Secure Keeps is what the sign reads above a grain depository in the market in Kholinar that used to be a Thaylen bank. The title is written in Thaylen script and the women’s script. The proprietors fled it long ago as moneylenders seemed to have a sixth sense for impending danger.[1]
Velalant's soldiers had appropriated it, and the vaults now protect precious grain. People wait in line outside, and at the front, soldiers dole out enough lavis for one day’s flatbread and gruel.[1]
Veil would have applauded Velalant's kindness, save for his soldiers' blatant incompetence. They shout at everyone to stay in line, but don't do anything to enforce the order. They do have a scribe watching to make sure nobody gets in line twice, but they don't exclude people who are obviously too well-to-do to need the handout.[1]
