Is there a specific place that is appropriate for discussing article changes. Anyways, on Shallan's page I noticed you linked 'Radiant' to Knights Radiant, but 'Radiant' is the third personality she developed the one who practices swords with Adolin. She talks about the difference between Shallan, Veil, and Radiant in ch 108.
Each page has its own "talk" page; just click on "talk" and start a discussion there. Please allow me to apologize for my misreprentatation; I haven't yet finished reading Oathbringer because site administration requires much of me I never knew necessary in its initial implementation. Even so, I remain grateful for your input! I hope you'll continue to contribute to our community!
Hey, don't worry about that; it always takes me a long time to read these books because I take notes all along the way for the site. Also, I already know far more than I wanted to before beginning Oathbringer. It's all good. So, please edit as you see fit and thank you for your contributions!
Hello! Thank you for creating/managing this site! I am very excited to review all the material and contribute!
One question: I was going through the Characters Page here, and I thought there should be categories for Heralds, Knights Radiant, and Unmade. But when I clicked on "Edit," I was unable to edit the page in either the VisualEditor or the Classic Editor. How do you edit this page? Is there a walkthrough that you can point me towards?
Your pointing out to me that Template:Ref-Book3 needed reworking was immensely helpful! I don't know what I was thinking when I created one template as another! Thank you for your assistance. However, I'm still having difficulty with Template:Ref-Book2.5. I've attempted to update it as I would such templates for the other books in the series, but perhaps I'm missing something; Book 2.5 is only a novelette and has only few chapters when compared to the novels. Have I not written the correct wiki code for the 2.5 templates (i.e., Template:Ref-Book2.5 and Template:Ref-Book2.5/doc)? Thank you for your assistance.
After looking through the templates for 3 hours this morning, I finally discovered the problems and have since corrected them. Thank you for encouraging me to keep looking. Being self-taught, I don't always have ready solutions to technical problems ... but, with encouragement, I usually figure them out. 🙂
Just start by reading through some of the pages in the wiki. There are links within each page to help you navigate the site. If you're interested in something more specific, you can always ask me and I'll see what I can do to help better understand things. Welcome!
Hi there! My name is Eric, and I'm an admin for 17th Shard and the Coppermind. I see what you are doing on Stormlight Wikia, and I was wondering if you'd like to join forces with the Coppermind, with the upcoming release of Oathbringer? There's so much work to do, wikiing all of this stuff, that duplicating effort seems to be a real waste. The editing community isn't super big, after all!
At the Coppermind we pride ourselves in having all the articles for every Brandon Sanderson book, especially Stormlight, where we have 1027 specific Stormlight articles (and that is excluding chapter summaries). We extensively cite things (our Shardblade article has 145 citations) and have many useful templates to make articles look great. We also integrate a lot of art. Obviously you are very skilled yourself, and it'd be awesome to join forces :)
For Oathbringer, we are preparing a list of new articles and articles that need to be updated. In addition, another admin generates a list of terms so that we do not miss any new articles. We think this will make the work of Oathbringer a lot easier.
I hope we can work together! Please email me at email@example.com or otherwise join the Coppermind Discord (https://discord.gg/KEv3fhN). We'd love to talk to you. If not, no worries, but I wanted to see what you think.
Wow! I would love to work with your team! This site was dropped in my lap as others abandoned it and
I remain an active contributor as well as admin. I'm very interested in fan art and its representations site-wide. I also have already written Edgedancer chapter summaries, but have yet to implement them.
Hah, yeah, Stormlight Wikia had a few people as admins and they left. I'm glad you picked up the slack, but goodness, you worked so hard and I think we can synergize better! I'd LOVE it if you can join us on the Coppermind. We have a small but active community. (Did you know we are working on a WoB Archive for all quotes? It comes out Wednesday! http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/61851-the-wob-archive-arcanum-is-here-november-8th/?page=1 ) I'm trying to whip our Arcanists in gear to make wiki articles after the 14th though ;)
Note I am not trying to take anything away from what you have done; I just think it's a shame we effectively "compete" when we could be one unified whole and make sweet articles for everything!
We have some summaries for Edgedancer, but they could sure use expanding: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Edgedancer/Summary We have a format for chapter-by-chapter pages if you prefer that, which we've done for Words of Radiance. Come on over to our Discord and chat with us, when you have the time! (Or come to the 17th Shard Discord!) We've found Discord invaluable to coordinate things.
One last thing, I'm happy to make you Coppermind staff if you come over :) (Uh... note I have not actually checked with my other staff about this, but I am sure we can do it!) I'm off to bed, but I hope to talk to you soon!
Wow! You just blew my mind! FYI, I've been committed to TSA wiki since it fell in my lap. Really? You'd welcome me within Coppermind? I have to admit that I do know of the WoB Archive via the Fb group. That aside, what I most enjoy about my freedom in TSA wiki is my leadership. I've the freedom to interact with contributors and discuss their contributions. I've also the leadership to contribute featured images.
We totally would! We do have a staff structure but we're extremely levelheaded folk and we'll come together as a team on decisions, and I'd say we want you to have freedom. With Discord it is really fast to say "hey guys I'm thinking of doing X, what do you think?" and generally you'd get that feedback very fast. We might have some learning curve issues with getting you up to speed on our standards (and honestly, some of our templates are arcane the first time you see them. They do a crapload of auto-categorization.) but that'd be my only worry in switching :)
I honestly think you and Joe would get along great. He does a lot of community outreach stuff for us to editors but he's just one guy and we could use help. All that stuff sounds awesome. Pop into Discord; we have some tools we want to show you that I think you'll REALLY love.
I will admit I don't really frequent Facebook too much these days so I don't know the Facebook group! I'm busy enough on the Shard and our Discords :)
Hey there, I'm the Joe mentioned above, and thought I might come by and say hi too! we are all rather excited about you joining our team!! if you come by the discord and find that it's too daunting or busy or anything, feel free to send me a PM on there or a message wherever makes most sense for you.
