Lavis is a grain that is a labor-intensive crop to cultivate, but also a profitable one.[1] From it are made beer, ale and liquor (or hard honu).[2][3][4] Lavis ale is sudsy and faintly sweet. The yellow-brown liquid reminds Kaladin of home, though he only started drinking it once in the army.[5]
