Lamaril was the Bridge Captain to whom Gaz reported. He also took payment from Gaz, who owed money to some loan sharks. Lamaril was replaced by Matal and his wife Hashal after Bridge Four caused a plateau assault to fail by attempting the side carry of a bridge. He was executed by order of Sadeas due to this failure.

Gaz and Syl note that he was a spiteful man who was hateful because of his low caste position.^{[citation needed]}
