Idrin was head of the King's Guard for Elhokar Kholin.[1]
At Dalinar's suggestion, men from Bridge Four took shifts with his men and Kaladin was impressed by the man and the team he ran. However, Idrin wanted to be out on the Shattered Plains fighting, not training the new members of the Guard. Like many soldiers in Dalinar's warcamp since Sadeas's betrayal, he wanted the chance to prove just how strong Dalinar's army was.[1]
