Dalinar's elites are a handpicked force of soldiers both lighteyed and dark. They are not an honor guard. Rather, they are simply the men he considered competent enough not to embarrass him.[1]
With him, they would crash into the enemy, pressing them back against the main army, employing his favorite kind of tactic.[1]
When Dalinar charged, his elites knew to watch, so he was rapidly joined by them.[1]
The Rift[]
The elites who accompanied him into the Rift were the product of years of planning and training. Primarily archers, they wore no armor, and were trained for long-distance running.[2]
This company of elites could outrun any harrying force he'd yet to meet. Though archers, they were proficient with the sword. Their training was unparalleled, and their stamina legendary.[2]
